in the depression anterior to the supratragic
notch and slightly superior to the condyloid process
of the mandible.
note; this point is best located when
patient opens the mouth so the condyloid process can
slide forward revealing the depression.
Needling
perpendicular insertion, 0.3 to 0.5
inch.
needle with mouth open.
mouth can be closed after insertion.
moxa is OK, but contraindicated in some
texts.

Commentary
Ermen (Sj 21) is one of three
points located in front of theTragus, located immediately
at the uppermost border of the TragusTingui
(Gb2) is located at the lower border of the Tragus
and Tinggong (Si 19) is located in the middle
. All three have the similar action of benefiting
the ear, and are often needled together, or rotated
in treating a wide variety of ear disorders.
